MrsHigg79 0 Posted October 10, 2016 Hi all!! I'm new here and have my surgery set for 12/6/16...I was scheduled to have it last year but decided not to at the last minute. This year though, I'm doing it. My husband and I both smoke and I'm having a really hard time quitting. I still have 3 weeks prior to my absolute MUST QUIT date of 11/8/16. But I want to quit sooner so I'm not waiting down to the last minute and screwing things up for my surgery. Any ideas?? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I quit smoking after 12 years by switching to vaping. I ended up buying a bottle of nicotine free menthol vape juice and wow, finally smoke free. I wish I would have done it sooner. My surgery isn't for another 3 to 6 months, but I'm glad I quit early. Tomorrow will mark 18 days of being a nonsmoker. I wish you the very best. Quitting is tough, but vaping really takes the edge off! Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App

MrsHigg79 0 Posted October 10, 2016 I just asked my doctor via email yesterday about the patch or pill. Hopefully, she will get back to me and prescribe something. ~MSHigginbotham

Phinley 94 Posted October 10, 2016 I switched to vaping on my doc's advice. Switched to juice without nicotine in it a week before my surgery. Unintended side efect - I got to taste real food while still on the liquid diet. Lemon pie and fruit loops kept me going.
PLEZ 76 Posted October 10, 2016 Quit 14 years ago before all the options above. I would park a peppermint in my cheek ..the peppermint seemed to help and the mint helped with the oral fixation...best of luck...you don't want to be skinny and healthy while killing yourself smoking...seems...counter productive Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App
