Is it ok to eat string cheese?

Recommended Posts

I can have string cheese beginning Week 4 post-op. My nutritionist gave me a list of items to pretty much avoid forever and Pasta was on that list. I knew that going into this. You can probably try having it several months out, but it expands, and just a little bit of it will likely make you miserable and give you little in the way of Protein or nutritional value.

I am allowed Babyel and laughing cow in the puréed stage. My Nutritionist also said that Pasta will slow loss or lead to weight gain.

My NUT has string cheese on my sample meal plan starting tomorrow, which is 22 days out. I'll let you know how it goes. I tried the famous Shelly's Ricotta Bake last night for the first time, it was so good to finally have a bite of food that felt a little bit normal and warm and cheesy.

I wan't allowed string cheese' for about 6 weeks after surgery although I could have other cheese'. The logic seemed off (my NP didn't like the stringiness) but I went with it because it didn't kill me -- I simply bought other stick cheese' to carry for convenience. :)

I don't eat pasta'. It makes me vomit and it's useless carbs so there is really no point in it. Do I like it? Yup. Do I like my size 8 skinny jeans? Far more than I like Pasta, for sure.

If you're craving a Pasta there are a lot of alternatives, but generally it is a stay away from item. As for string cheese, my plan allowed it in the mushy phase if I recall correctly.

I was allowed string cheese as soon as I was past puree phase and on soft food phase. While Pasta isn't a complete no-no with my practice's guidelines, it is cautioned against for the reasons people have listed above - it tends to swell in your stomach making you miserable for the rest of the day, unnecessary carbs when you should focus on Protein. It was one of the first things I weaned off of during my pre-op phase - i replaced it with spaghetti squash and zoodles (zucchini noodles) then. Now that I'm post-op I don't plan to add pasta back in at any point. Once I get to the point where I have more than a tiny bite of veggie with a meal and really want something similar to pasta, i'll probably do the spaghetti squash and zoodle thing again since at least there is some nutritional value there.

I'm in stage 3 and I eat string cheese once a day (it's usually my lunch). It's one of the things I tolerate best. But it is on my plan.

Pasta is on my plan to limit after 60 days.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
