Stitches and drain...Mexico

Recommended Posts

Hi, im back in Canada and I am not sure when I go to the dr to get my drain and stitches taken out.

Also, how long does the drain drain, my drain is now starting to drain a light pink Fluid, i think it might be bleeding, but there is no clots, just a pink fluid, i haven't drank anything pink. My wounds are healing nice, very little redness.

I was sleeved 1st of Oct

Any insight please

Hi I had my drain removed by my surgeon the very next day I'm not sure how long you're supposed to keep that in my doctor said I didn't need to keep it in longer ... can you call the surgeon in Mexico to see if it take it out now. I know that once the drain came out I felt so much better. I was sleeved on 10/06/16

I had no drain and no kind of stitches.

Let us know what your Dr says.

I went to Mexico too...My dr removed the drain while I was still there and covered it with gauze/tape...it still weeped a little of the white/pink Fluid but I felt SO much better after the drain came out (admittedly, I thought I was going to puke when it was coming out though!) I didn't have stitched that needed to be removed..they just dissolved.

Hopefully you'll get an answer from your dr!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
