Hello Everyone!

It has been a long time since i have updated. I had started my journey to weight loss in 2011. I had wanted the Lap Band. I jumped through all the hoops my former insurance wanted me to. Then, when we submitted to them for surgery. They said that the place i was going to was no longer in network. They wanted me to drive 5-6 hours to go to the doctor. So, i gave up. I spiraled out of control with my eating. It is now 2016. I am at my highest weight ever. I am in pain from it and totally fed up!

My insurance changed a couple months ago ( Anthem was bought out by Cigna) I thought what the hell, let me look to see if they cover it. AND THEY DID/DO!!! I am beyond excited. Mostly because i am not doing this alone. My adopted Mom had the lap band 6 years ago and it failed her. So we are both having the Sleeve. Hers being a revision. But i am excited and nervous but thats to be expected right?

This site helped me so much last time. I recommended this to my friend also. I look forward to taking my journey with all of you and reading everyone's stories.

2017 is definitely going to be my year!!

If that's the way you feel, then it's to be expected. There's room for the full range of emotions, so wear them proudly. Use the ones that are useful and grind down the rest.

2017 is going to be your year for as long as it's on the calendar. Then on to the next and the next and so on.

Excitement and nerves are all part of the process, they are good to feel. You may even become scared and that's completely normal as well, try sitting with all of your feelings. Don't push them aside, be mindful of where you are emotionally.

Good luck on this awesome journey your starting.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
