M579 19 Posted October 9, 2016 I will admit to chewing something without swallowing and spitting it out during my liquid only phase. No judgement please!
Nerdgrl 61 Posted October 9, 2016 I am 9 days post-op and have been so tempted to chew some real food and spit it out, but I am terrified I'll swallow it by accident and risk rupturing my sleeve. I have heard stories of people licking certain foods to get the flavor - at this point, I'm not above it. hbrhonda 108 Posted October 9, 2016 After two weeks of liquids I was so starving I added baby rice Cereal to Protein shake and I survived. Made my new sleeve so happy.
amberb1979 31 Posted October 9, 2016 Well thank goodness I'm not the only one.. like I said; I'm not starving, I think I can thank the Protein shakes for that but just really want to chew and taste something delicious! LipstickLady 25,682 Posted October 12, 2016 Pre op sucks. It's tough and you just have to shoulder through it. Post op MATTERs. Your health is at stake. IT MATTERS. Learn the discipline in pre-op so you can muster through it in post op. Seriously. For some, their life could be at stake. The risks of causing leaks sucks MUCH more than a few bites of "real food" would feel.
tess170 11 Posted October 12, 2016 Steam shrimp are very soft! It depends on where you had your surgery at and the doctor's list of do's and don't Sent from my LG-H631 using the BariatricPal App
LipstickLady 25,682 Posted October 12, 2016 Unless you can mash it easily with a fork, it's not considered soft. But if you want to eat shrimp at just over two weeks out, more power to you!

You could cause serious complications - including life threatening ones! Bring allowed foods or drinks with you if you go anywhere - you really are putting yourself at great risk by eating off plan - especially something like swedish fish. Please be careful. KristenLe 5,979 Posted October 12, 2016 @@amberb1979 Please don't chew and spit out food. This is a form of an eating disorder. It also causes your stomach to start the digestion process and can increase acid production - making you have issues with GERD.

No judgement - but this is dangerous territory. It's a form of an eating disorder - and it starts the digestion process which will cause an increase of stomach acid. You also can take in calories and sugars.
