Hi Heather

Thanks for responding!!! I actually have good energy, I was most tired until about 2 to 3 weeks out. The supplements are really helping, my surgeon told me to take Flinstones chewables but I switched to an organic vegetable based Vitamin. You may be tired if you are not getting enough fluids in or Protein. I am on the soft food diet now but I've tailored it to meet my own likes, I'm a very fussy eater. My struggle is more mental, I'm of Italian descent and much of my socialization was centered around food so I want things that I can't have right now. And boy would I love a huge Hershey bar right now,LOL What types of things are you experiencing?

Hi Caylyn

So good to hear from someone that had their surgery at Highland. I'm curious to know how your experience has been. I had Dr. O'Malley, I haven't had any complications but I feel like it's been a slow process. I guess I just expected the weight to come off quickly, I started at 311 at surgery and am now at 280. How have things been for you?

Ann Marie,

I'm glad to hear you have energy, that has been one thing I've been lacking. I know I haven't been getting enough Protein. But lately my problem is non hunger. I don't feel hungry at all. If my husband and I go out to eat we order one plate and I get to eat my little portion and he eats the rest :) it works out for us

Hello fellow bypasses! I'm

Sarah and had my surgery on May 20th. Weight lost to date is 9 stone. Main problems are feeling cold most of the time and then sudden sweats and sickness after most foods even if it's lettuce! The cold in this country isn't great to start with but I'm sure there's more to it than that! Does anyone else feel this way? DUrham, England

I had my surgery on 9/28 in NH. I am feeling pretty good. I had a wedding this past weekend, and that was pretty tough to deal with while eating my yogurt and baby food! I was also super tired when I got home.

I had been averaging about 1.5 pounds a day loss since the surgery, but it slowed at the wedding. I went into surgery at 279.9 lbs and am currently at 269. I can't wait to eat regular food again!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
