Finally got the ball rolling!

Hello everyone!

So on Wednesday night i went to the WLS info session after researching and contemplating and being discouraged by 2 PCPs. I got all my paperwork in on the same night and now I have to wait to be called about setting up my 3 appointment. I am SO excited, after 20ish years of every diet, excersize plan and fad I will finally (hopefully) see some real results.

Looking forward to being nosey and hearing all about everyone's journey :)

It's exciting to get started! I go for my testing Monday. Ugh. Labs and all that fun stuff!

Yeah it is very exciting! I went for my initial appointment last Thursday and now I'm waiting for my sleep apnea test to come, started my exercise routine and started watching what I've been eating. Exciting times ahead!

I'm really not looking forward to needles. Lol!! The idea of surgery doesn't scare me too much but blood draws and IVs are my least favorite thing haha

Yeah I am not a fan of that stuff, but it's necessary. I have upper gi, chest X-ray, and abdominal ultrasound. Plus labs. Nothing else was required. I also see a cardiologist before surgery will be scheduled. Hope it all goes smoothly!

Grrrr so the coordinator called me today and I was so excited, thought it was to start scheduling the 3 appointments they require but no, to tell me that they can't do that until my PCP faxes my info over... which they said they did.... and they didnt. Grrr. I'm impatient anyway but this just pisses me off. :/

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
