Don't know what to eat

Recommended Posts

So I'm about 5 months post op and 1 month post op from my gallbladder removal as well. Ever since I had GB out I cannot find any substantial food that I like and that's even healthy. I'm gonna get in trouble lol but the only foods I seem to be able to eat and enjoy are pizza, Pasta, chips, popcorn things that aren't exactly good for a post op sleeve patient I know. Don't get me wrong I don't go crazy with the food I eat like 3 bites of pizza and I'm done I'm just nervous because I'm feeling weak and tired all the time and don't know what to do! I try to eat Proteins such as chicken and meats (I used to LOVE chicken before both surgeries and now can't stand it) but nothing seems to go down. Do you think maybe I should make an appointment with the nutritionist at my surgeons office? I haven't seen her in a while and think maybe that I should get a direct plan of things to eat that'll at least be a little healthier!

Has anyone else had similar issues? My friend had her gallbladder out and is fine, of course she has a full stomach so I can't really relate to her. Just wondering if anyone out there has face similar problems after GB and sleeve with eating right.

This sounds like a way to justify doing what you know you shouldn't be doing. I'm a direct person and I know it doesn't win friends, but it seems like you need a direct friend to tell you straight up that you need to knock it off. Eat healthy food if you have to gag it down. Otherwise admit you want to go back to your old ways.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
