No Restricition is normal....

Recommended Posts

I have had 2 fills and I can still eat anything and quite a bit. I am eating around 1 1/2 cups at any one time and I don't have any problems getting stuck (Knock on Wood).

Yes, you are normal. You should still try very hard to eat slowly and with care, because you might still experience a surprise if you take too large a bite. But before the first fill it is very common for people to feel virtually no restriction whatsoever once they've completely healed from surgery.

Alexandra,

That is good to know. I had my two week post-op check up today. I mentioned that I do not feel real restricted. My dr. stressed to eat slow and he said the band will slow down the flow process to signal fullness. He said not to be afraid to try foods as long as I eat slow and chew well. So do you think as I continue to heal I will feel more restriction as time goes on? I hope so, I can now eat a good 1 and 1/2 cups of food with no problem. Also how much time do you recommend should pass between bites of food? I was just wondering.

All of this is a learning process, and very personal. I think as healing continues it's likely that you'll feel LESS restriction until you get an adjustment. During this time you'll start wondering if you even have a band at all. Just take it slow, though, because it's there even if you don't feel it all the time.

It's a good idea to try to take a good 10-20 seconds between bites. I know I hardly ever manage that, but it's a very good practice.

Hello,

I'm feeling the same thing. I am not having any restriction but for what I put upon myself. I measure everything out and allow myself only 3-4 ounces per meal...no Snacks and drink Water when I am hungry... It sucks...but only until I get a fill or two...(hopefully)

It's not forever...I hope!

hi, i'm looking to get a fill soon i am almost in week 6 post-op, and i am able to eat more than i thought i would be able to... its good to know that this is normal...

(i stopped loosing after2 weeks and even gained:mad:, is that normal? )

well i still cant eat as much as i did b-4 surgery, i get chest congestion, but i'v never thrown up.so dose that mean i have some restricion? i mean the band should be empty now...?

i'm also concerned about beeing able to eat more than i thought because i dont know if i will strech the pouch. i heard of the pouch streaching-am i risking that by eating to much?

if i'm not throwing up, Am i really eating to much?

what happens if the pouch streches?

what dose cause it to strech? is it overeating? something else?

please let me know if you know anything any info is helpfull thanks so much, Hana.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
