I'm almost 4 weeks post op and when I drink or eat I don't really get the feeling of being full. Is this normal? Kinda worried because my biggest fear was that my sleeve wouldn't work.

Your goal with the sleeve should never to be full. Being full hurts, and it really hurts early out. Once you get full, it won't be something you strive for.

Everyone heals differently. Some people have their nerves take longer to reconnect.

You didn't say what you are eating so it is hard to judge if anything you are eating will actually trigger restriction.

Even with restriction, you should never rely on feeling full to judge when to stop eating. Measure your portions and only eat those portions.

As long as you eat appropriate amounts and are okay with it and not eating more then you should be fine, nothing to worry about, but don't go binge eating.

I'm 3+weeks post-op and I'm not getting "full" either. It seems like I get hungry again shortly after eating, so I can't tell if I'm eating enough or not and I hate that I'm constantly feeling hungry. I dont want to over eat, so I'm trying to be careful. I'm calling my dietician tomorrow because this has gone on for a few days now and it's getting really uncomfortable.

You are never going to feel full on that, those are liquids. When you eat some meat, you will learn what full feels like

@@Yaya B

Water, broth, crystal light

you will never have that "full" feeling from any liquids

yogurt is a "slider" food

you eat it and it goes down smoothly/easily

most OP don't feel full from that

popcorn, junk foods are other sliders

eating sliders will never give you that full feeling

eat them/snack on them alllll the time

can/wlll "help" you gain weight!!!

eeeek

if this happens - the sleeve will NOT fail you

YOU will have failed the sleeve

you are one month post op

don't worry now

you'll have plenty of time in the future to worry

i know you can learn and do things right

i have faith in you

good luck bud

eyes on the prize

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
