First Fill

Recommended Posts

Well, my first fill happened at long last yesterday! It was a lot easier than I expected (just some discomfort when they did the local anaesthetic). I knew I had some fill already from surgery time (I have an AP band), and finally found out that I had 2cc in from the beginning. She added another 1.2cc so I'm now up to 3.2.

I do feel a little restricted but I'm sure I really won't notice until I'm back on regular food in a day or so. I haven't had a stall at all yet (just slowed down to 2 lbs a week instead of 3-5), so hopefully the weight will keep on falling right off!!

I'm glad everything went well for you and congratulations on your weight loss!!! I went for my 2nd fill today and for some reason or another got the time mixed up. It was at 8:45 a.m. instead of 9:15 a.m. and the doctor had already left when I got there. So I'm putting it off until around 12/15 when I have more time off from work. I'm just praying and will keep going with what I have and hope to at least drop 5-10 lbs by the next fill.

Hi there... Hope your first fill goes well. Mine went just fine. The doctor went conservative with mine... at first I was kinda mad about that, but now I am happy. I am eating about a cup of food per meal, and I've lost another 4 pounds since my fill. So, I am really happy. I may go back for another fill when I lose another 15 more pounds... and the fill doesn't hurt at all. It's really no big deal. Easier than getting a flu shot!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
