Just got home from hospital

Recommended Posts

The day/night of surgery and the following 2 days were pretty awful for me. Then the third day out, everything rapidly started getting better.

Take your pain pills regularly during those first few days. I couldn't have gotten through it without them. (And I took them every 4 hours religiously those days.)

Now, at 8 days post-op, I am feeling pretty good. I get tired very easily, and I have to remember that my body is still in a fragile state (especially when I want to pick something up or bend over).

Good luck and feel better!

@@TammyMMD Take the meds as prescribed - even if you think you feel better. Once you get to the point where they wear off - it's very hard to catch up to the pain again. Be sure to walk alot - get rid of the gas pains and use a heating pad. I'm sure it's good to be home!!!

Drink your water!! At about 10 days out I thought I was Super Woman and over did it. Ended up in the ER and 3 bags of IV.

I got home from the hospital yesterday, in a lot of pain as well. The pain meds work, but I throw up sometimes after I take it bc it doesn't sit well with my stomach. Hoping it all passes soon. I barely can drink or eat Soup. hurts going down

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
