Boudala 27 Posted October 6, 2016 My surgery is scheduled tomorrow morning at 9am. I'm self pay and the surgical center they use is not equipped for overnight stays as in staff... but they do that for these surgeries. They called me this morning and said they were unable to keep me over night because of staffing issues. So they will discharge me at like 8pm. I'm really scared. Pescador 1,374 Posted October 6, 2016 I checked in the hospital and spent 8 hours. Home and happy before I caught some dread disease like Cdif or Staph. Go home and relax like I did. I was 67 and never ever had a problem for 3 yeaars.
blizair09 3,250 Posted October 6, 2016 I had a very different experience from Loopylulu. I spent the night, and I can't imagine what going home would have been like. I was on a constant IV all night and the nurse came in every hour to adjust the IV, take blood, and many other things. I felt awful that night and the two days following before everything starting to rebound. (Once it rebounded, though, it rebounded quickly.) I can't imagine not having had that IV for the first night after surgery. To each his/her own on this one...
