NotOnMyWatch 54 Posted October 6, 2016 First, can you really not drink anything for an hour after you eat? Second, I have to have regular CAT scans (cancer follow ups). Does anyone know how you drink 32ozs of that awful liquid in an hour after surgery? Thanks! Sent from my SM-G920P using the BariatricPal App
Babbs 14,681 Posted October 6, 2016 All surgeons are different. Mine only requires 20-30 minutes after we eat. In my opinion, that's sufficient. As far as drinking the sludge for your CAT scan, it will depend on how far out you are from surgery. It would take me an hour to drink 16 Oz of Water the first few months after surgery, but as time went on, I could drink much more quickly. By a year, I could drink 16 Oz of Water in a matter of minutes.
helenpgh 81 Posted October 6, 2016 My surgeon says no drinks a half hour before and a half hour after each meal. I try to only eat at a scheduled meal time. I haven't had too much trouble with doing this. And sometimes I lose track of time and go longer than the half hour. Then I might end up drinking a little less that day which can result in some Constipation.
