Travel after sleeve

I am wanting to have surgery the end of December and then fly to Florida for a week at Disney World on Feb 11th. Am I pushing my luck? Will I have the energy to walk lots and enjoy myself?

Right after surgery? No, probably not. This is major surgery and most people are exhausted for at least a few weeks after, and spending all their available energy on trying to get their fluids and Protein in.

I am a week out today, and that would be way too much for me.

Today, I walked to my spa, which is about a mile from my house, had about an hour and a half worth of services, and then walked back home and I was WORN OUT. I was so tired, I had to wait to take a shower. This is going to be my walking for about a week and then I'll see about adding more. I am hoping the tiredness will diminish.

And I am handling everything pretty well. I have had little to no pain since the third day post-op; I am ahead on my Protein and Fluid goals to the point that they moved me on early, and I have slept on my side since the night in the hospital.

But some folks on here go back to work the same week they have the surgery. I am on medical leave for six weeks. And today's sojourn to the spa reminds me why I was wise to take this time. (This is, of course, only my experience...)

I would imagine you'll be fine at six weeks. Have a plan to get your liquids in and to rest/nap during the day if you need to -- but you probably won't. Have fun!

If it is after 6 weeks and you can get all your fluids and Proteins in, you should be fine. You will get tired, but you can do it. The exercise will be great. If you are having issues getting your Protein in still in Feb, then you won't have enough energy and you are going to be exhausted. So it is a roll of the dice based on how you heal.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
