how likely is one to get denied?

@@ecoreen94

i'll respond the "other" way

bmi of 40 or more

bmi less, must have co-morbities

documentation of history showing attempts of weight loss

(WW, Jenny Craig etc) and weight over the years

physical problems like high blood pressure/diabetes

you need to have some of the above

documentation (past weights, attempts)

i think are necessary

to get approved (i'm sure i forgot something)

hoping to get approved for WLS

"More is More"

"they" want you to have lots of problems

crazy isn't it

positive thoughts being sent your way

fingers, toes, eyes, nose crossed!!!

good luck bud :)

kathy

I doubt you have anything to worry about. The surgeon makes money by getting people approved. The staff knows how to make it happen. Even if you are denied the first time, they will clarify the reasons why you need this and resubmit. It happens all the time. Relax. :)

I did a 6 month "diet plan" which really wasn't a plan at all. Me and my dr just talked about my weight gain/loss once every month. I ended up gaining the last month and was told that I wouldn't get approved through tricare if I didn't weigh less at the end. So I did another month and sent all my paperwork in. Got denied due to not sending all necessary documents (6 months, psych eval, ect.) which they were sent just lost in the process and had to file an appeal which took about a month to get reversed. I was sooooo anxious about not getting approved I almost stopped the whole process so just be patient. Most people get approved if you follow all the requirements. I just found out about the reversal today and it took a total of about 2 months after all my requirements were done to get approved so just stay patient:)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
