Sleeved Sept 29th! Help!

Recommended Posts

Hi. I was sleeved Sept 29th. It is almost a week later and I am still not able to get my liquids down. I'm so scared something is wrong and scared of getting dehydrated. Is anyone else going through the same thing? I am setting my timer to drink every 10 mins but even a sip of Water makes me feel uncomfortable but I'm still forcing it.

I would suggest you contact your surgeon.......that's the safest thing to do.

Good luck

Hey sleeve buddy, I was on the 29th too. Sorry to hear you are having a rough go at it. Some typical suggestions, have you tried changing temps? Also I noticed the first sip would hurt sometimes if I had a gas bubble in the way so I would burp first or take 2-3 multiple sips to avoid the first sip discomfort, which for me is all it was and ended day 2. I also would suck on a sugar free popsicle at least it would get some fluids in. Dehydration sucks. Hope you figure it out quick.

I am having the same issue! I am 8 days out and having issues with fluids. Only able to get about 32-40 oz a day. Sip all day but everything tastes metallic to me. Have my follow-up today. Hopefully Dr will be able to help me with this.

I hope so. Prayers for you. I went and got the sugar free popsicles this morning. And what do you know, half of it was gone before I knew it. Thank you @migalo. But now I feel so full that I can pop! I walked around a little for about 10 mins or more. I am a little more confident that I got that half of popsicle down but still worried about how many fluids I'm not getting.

I feel the same way! I was also sleeved on the 29th and having difficulty getting all my liquids in. My incisions are also so sore that getting up and down is painful. Still sleeping on the recliner. So wish I could get into my bed.

Hey I was also sleeved on the 30th. And I felt like I was sipping Water all day until I set an alarm that rings every 8 minutes to take a sip. Now I'm actually getting in fluids. I mixed gatorade zero with Water. Plus having chicken Soup broth a sip at a time. Plus made a Protein shake which is taking a whole day to drink as well!

Rightside is still very sore. At night I take pain meds and have a pillow on that side. The pillow helps.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
