My surgeon prescribed a Nexium24 first thing every morning for a minimum of the first 3 months.......it's for heartburn/acid reflux. There are several brands: Nexium24, Prevacid, Prilosec. PPI is acronym for Protein Pump Inhibitor. It basically reduces the acid in your stomach. I'm really surprised your doctor didn't advise you to take one of the aforementioned medications as it seems most of the members on this site are taking them. The acid reflux is a common problem after the sleeve surgery.

That being said, it is ALWAYS best to check with your surgeon to make sure there is nothing wrong.
