I'm Indian and we make everything with spices ... I don't crave anything much but the ground chicken and eggs and stuff would taste so much. Ether if I can add some spice to it... I had my surgery on the 27th sep, can anyone suggest when u were allowed to spice up the food?

I don't think I had any restrictions on adding spices to foods. Like everything, just make sure you go slow, try one new thing at a time, and see how you react.

On soft foods I had ahi tuna with wasabi and soy sauce. Your experience may be different from mine so take it easy. I'm a little over 5 weeks post op and I'm comfortable with any spices including a habanero sauce. I just add enough for flavor and don't bathe my food in it.

I haven't had any issues with spices post sleeve.

I would, however, recommend that the first time you try tuna, eggs, chicken, or beef it be without the additional spice, so that if the spice bothers you then you would know it wasn't the Protein source.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
