Am I better off having longer or shorter hair when the Hair loss starts? Ordinarily I wear my hair pretty short. My hair now is in an inbetween phase and it's driving me nuts, and now is the time when I would go and cut it all off. But since I will likely be dealing with hair thinning in the coming months I am wondering if I should wait.

Mine is long and curly. I will die with it long and curly. Lol

Mine is still pretty thick and I'm almost 5 months out. Its still coming out in gobs.

Depends if you start out thick, thin, curly or straight.

I am 3.5 mths out with baby fine thin hair and haven't experienced any loss. Wear your hair the way you like it and deal with Hair loss if and/or when it happens.

I am a year out, I have not shed any more then I did before surgery. I have kept mine short the last several months though. Many people have said that when shedding happens they find it easier to deal with short hair.

My hair loss didn't start till about 6-7 months out and then lasted about 6-7 months.

Shorter worked better for me during the growing back period (it's all grown back now) because the short "fuzzies" blended in better.

When it's falling out? Don't think k it matters

I have had very long hair all my life but when it started coming off, I went and got a straight chin length cut. I cried the first two days even though everyone complimented me on how I look ten years younger but even I am convinced now. I don't know if it has stopped falling off since the cut or if I don't notice it but it is a relief. I would run my hand through the long hair and at least 50 strands would come off at once.

I didn't experience any perceptible hair loss (my hair is fine and thick) and have always worn my hair long.

Not long after surgery, I got it cut really short and donated my hair. I haven't looked back. I love it short. I swim and it is easy to care for, light, and I get complements all the time.

My incredible stylist gave me a chin-length swing before the surgery, and said if I do have hair loss it'll look more full short. 7 weeks, and I don't think I'm losing any more hair than normal but most people say it starts a little later.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
