Discomfort while eating

Recommended Posts

Does this ever go away? Like the feeling your esophagus is closing while swallowing. I have it real bad in the morning when I just take a sip of Water. As the day goes on it gets better.

When you are sipping Water is it cold? I had the same problem and still do when i am drinking things that are cold. I drink Water that is at room temp even now 2 years later.

If you are drinking it at room temp you might try warm or cold and see if that help. '

In the morning our tummies have to almost wake up so it always seems to be worse in the am.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah, first thing in the morning it's cold Water. (Taking my pills) but today I had hot tea, and no discomfort!

I never had that exact problem, but I've discovered an amazing product that really resolve my digestive discomfort. It's called Ultimate Aloe and it's better than the Rx they gave me after surgery! Amazingly soothing for the stomach and rest of the digestive system! You can get it at this site: http://www.forbariatricpatientsonly.org/

I noticed that when drinking cold Water, too. I had to switch to room temp water, which stinks because I do LOVE ice... I also seem to have a tighter pouch opening right after waking up, too. That first drink of water always seems to feel stuck for a few seconds. But after just a little bit, it seems to open right up. :-)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
