20 days till surgery. What do I need to buy for when I come home?

Recommended Posts

A variety of Protein shakes (don't get a lot - tastes change after surgery), crystal light, broth (or make your own), Powerade zero, sugar free Jello, sugar free popsicles, Protein Water (Atkins Lift), a Blender Bottle, a food scale, gas x, a comfy front closure bra, tea (I bought a bunch of flavors), bottled Water (in case I don't like the tap water after surgery), and I bought a bottle that keeps liquids cold or hot for hours (since it will take a while to drink anything).

I didn't go overboard - I hope that I'll be able to go to the store by the end of the week when I start pureed.

Not much, really. If you stock up, you might end up spending money on stuff you no longer care for.

SF popsicles, a couple of gatorades or powerades -- whichever you prefer. A small pack of Protein drinks. SF pudding.

I had surgery on a Wednesday, was home on Thursday, and driving on Friday. I could get whatever I needed at the store once I was driving and before then I was drinking Clear Liquids only, so...

I was in the grocery store two days after the sleeve. I cannot tell you how much I threw out, when I overbought at Sams Club, and did not use. Bouillon and FF Soups were our go to favorites. My scale is in the drawer never used. Protein Bars were not a favorite, and some went in the trash. I made the mistake of putting Premier Protein shakes in the hot garage, and they spoiled. Lived and learned. I thought I was stocking a storm shelter!

What a fat person thinks are adequate supplies FAR exceeds what a newly sleeved person actually needs.

You should have seen what I used to buy when they were calling for a day or two of snow vs what I buy now. It's insanity.

So that's why I have so much food in my copboards!?! 4 months of snow and darkness heading this way.....

I went and got some Jello boxes, Protein drinks and tiny containers today. Itty bitty ready made jellos will wait for me when I get back from surgery. I already had a digital scale and Protein shakes.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
