I almost bought a pomegranate at Aldi's the other day. I am not quite sure how to eat one!

We're spoiled in NY. They sell the pomegranate seeds in plastic containers. Great for us lazy people. Check out this video on how to actually get the seeds out of one:

@@Inner Surfer Girl and @@Alex Brecher,

Useful video aside, any self-respecting child will somehow break open a pomegranate (mothers come in handy for this) and put its eager little face right into the fruit to extract several bits at a time.

ISG, the sweet-tart taste of the pulp is a good contrast in many whole-meal or side salad combinations.

Even for an adult, Alex, where's the fun in buying a container of seeds? You must now choose your punishment, either a refresher bar mitzvah lesson or walking the plank.

I no longer put my face in. A spoon does nicely.

Ohhhh. The pomegranate is the first thing on my list when I leave downtown today!

@@Alex Brecher

costco sells packs of the seeds.

Great when using them for a recipe.

However, completely agree with

@WLSResources/Clothing Exch

When it comes to EATING a pomegranate-

I cut mine in quarters and then extend the sides of a quarter to expose the red beauties.

That pith though! Ugh! Oy! So bitter!!!

Hag Samehah (sp?) and Shanah Tovah to all of my fellow Jewish peeps! Wishing everyone much love, peace and joy in this New Year! ❤️✡️❤️

Transliteration is a puzzlement. I've only seen "sameach," but your version works just as well.

I like your screen name.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
