Spectra13 25 Posted October 2, 2016 Hi! I was sleeved 9/19. I was prescribed a capsule medication to take to prevent gallbladder issues. However, I have read everyone saying they open their capsules. Is there an actual problem with taking the capsule? I opened it and tried to mix with pudding its putrid. Plus I don't want to waste a meal on trying to put medicine in it and not being able to enjoy my food since we get so little. Dashofpixiedust8 1,469 Posted October 2, 2016 You shouldn't open a capsule without consulting either your doctor or pharmacist. Not all pills can by opened. Also you can take whole pills after surgery. I was given my pills to take the morning after surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

But yeah I didn't want to open the omeprazole and asked if I could get a prescription for tab only and he oblidged. But then he prescribed the gall bladder med in a capsule and I was like well wth! leese1978 22 Posted October 2, 2016 I was told by the nurse and nutritionist that if you open the gallbladder pill and put it in cool whip- it sort of masks the taste. I luckily didn't have to take it. But many many people said it helped. A spoon full of cool whip make a little hole in it, pour the opened pill cover it up with cool whip and eat. Nerdgrl 61 Posted October 5, 2016 I was sleeved on 9/29 and am taking 2 capsules (prescribed by the doctor) 3x/day. My sleeve doesn't particularly like the capsules but I asked the doctor if it was okay to take them and he said it was fine - for what it's worth.
