ML573663 18 Posted October 2, 2016 I'm having a really weird thought process, sleeve scheduled 12/13. But I feel like it's not happening. Does anyone feel this way? Maybe because it's such a long way away and because I'm in month 4 of a 6 month process, or maybe because I'm scared my insurance will deny me for some reason, or maybe I don't want to get my hopes up? But I just feel kind of down about it. I've gone to every appointment and am counting down the days. Just kind of in disbelief that I'll be getting the surgery. Does anyone feel this way too? KristenLe 5,979 Posted October 2, 2016 @@ML573663 I felt (feel) the same way. Mine is in 16 days. Every step of the way I just felt something was going to happen. I still have that in the back of my mind but praying the 18th gets here and all goes well. Hang in there!
blizair09 3,250 Posted October 2, 2016 I'd have to say that I was the same on one level or another. Since I followed such a strict six-month pre-op diet, I just kept moving along with what I was doing until 3 days before when I voluntarily did a liquid diet. Even though I knew the surgery was happening on September 28 (insurance approval and all), it didn't become "really real" until I started that liquid diet. And, even at that, it wasn't "completely real" to me until we showed up at the hospital that morning.
ginabee38 91 Posted October 2, 2016 I feel a bit like this too! I started my journey to get sleeved in early June (my first consult with my surgeon was June 8) and I rushed to get all the pre-op clearances done in time so I could have the surgery at the end of August. Unfortunately, I ran out of time. Now I have to wait until December, around the holidays (12/23/16 projected surgery date) due to my work schedule. These days, I am worrying most about complications, as my surgery is only 2 days before Christmas, and I don't want to burden my family (probably just excessive worrying). Also, now that I finally got a date, it's a bit surreal. Still, I'm not backing down. I am holding my breath waiting for insurance approval, especially because my coverage may change after the new year and I've nearly met my deductible, so I don't want to have to start all over with that. Such a strange journey! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
klouisa64 36 Posted October 2, 2016 (edited) I just told a friend today that it doesn't seem real yet to me. I started this journey officially back in March 2016 and while I've been doing what I need to do, it's never felt real. My surgery is scheduled on October 18th. I'll meet my surgeon for the first time on October 11th. Once he says, "See you on the 18th!" then I'll finally feel it's real and it's going to happen. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that feels that way! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Edited October 2, 2016 by klouisa64
sumochik 22 Posted October 2, 2016 I've been working towards surgery now since January, and my surgery is this Wednesday. It still doesn't seem real to me. It probably won't until I'm on the operating table. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

ML573663 18 Posted October 3, 2016 And to be honest, I think a part of all of us is scared too, because god knows this isn't our first time trying to lose weight. And we think, will all of this be worth it? I'm sure it will be. And I definitely want the surgery. I just hope with the right diet and exercise, this will work for me.
