I am 4 months out and I have had these pains since I've had my surgery. My stomach doesn't growl, but it does hurt when I am hungry. When I do eat its small portions and after a few bites my stomach hurts and I can't eat anymore and/or I get nauseous. When I try to talk to my surgeon about it he tells me I don't feel anything its all in my head but I know thats not true. I am just wanting to know if anyone else has felt like this and what have they done to help them. When I eat I always eat my meat first and keep up with the Protein, but I just have this pain that I am still hungry but I can't eat much.

I totally know what you are talking about. I've felt those pains since day 1 and still have them 8 weeks post op. I don't get nauseous and luckily never have but I totally get the hunger pains. The pain isn't as bad after I eat anymore but definitely still get it. Are you eating slow? Small bites and chewing really well?

Yes I am. I feel like this all day. I don't feel "full" but I don't eat much because the pain will get worse. They don't know what to tell me

Does it happen with everything you eat?

if you feel like you are getting no where with your bariatric team then you could ask your PCP for a referral to a Gastroenterologist and see what they think.

I had those feelings in the very beginning but they went away as my stomach healed.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
