Definitely call your surgeon ASAP.

You don't want to get badly dehydrated and end up in ER. We can go without food for long periods of time, but not without Water and fluids.

I had a particularly nasty and scary Dehydration event, early post op. Lucky someone recognised it and gave me Hydralyte to drink (electrolyte drink), and I was good in 15 mins.

Perhaps get yourself a bottle of electrolyte Fluid or sachets, and keep handy for emergencies.

Also, because of all this vomiting, the danger of dehydration is magnified.

I hope your surgeon can give you Zofran wafers for nausea, or Stemetil or Maxolon, or whatever works for nausea.

Good luck, and feel better soon!

Ice chips, aroma, try lavender sachets, relax --- your body is rebelling cause you and surgeon put it through a lot. Does yours allow weak tea, if so very weak camomile or mint, unsweeet. Don't want to dump , even by baby spoonfuls. Suck off your finger if nothing else. Steve's might be okay, not sure. Get rest without that you'll stay "Het up". Not been there yet but I am a card carrying mama/grandma with a degree from the College of Hard Knox. Knox is also the county I live in.Ohio.???????? Rosey p.

Zofran is the best thing for nausea, although the taste of the melting lozenges they gave me made me sick. I learned to just lightly bite it and swallow quickly. Also, I read somewhere that putting a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol under your nose will help with nausea. I hope you are through this phase and having better days soon!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
