Stress test fail

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, first post. I'm scheduled for my sleeve next Friday (10/7) and I went today and was told by the cardiologist that my stress test was "abnormal." He recommended we do nuclear testing. I'm hoping it was bc I stopped the test before I reached my optimum heartbeat (they wanted me at 168!). I was short of breath (duh! This is why I'm getting sleeved!) makes me worry a bit I've waited almost 6 months and cleared every other test... anyone else have this issue and get cleared after the nuclear testing? I really want to be sleeved and can't imagine living in this giant body forever. I've been imagining the outcome and to be denied at this point would really put me down. Thanks

I had nuclear testing for my stress test, because of the high blood pressure meds I take. My cardiologist said that the meds slow my heart rate down and the regular stress test wouldn't be accurate. I can tell you that the nuclear test was a walk in the park. You will be given medication by IV to speed up your heart while you slowly walk on the treadmill. You are moniitored during this process and barely even feel a thing. The only side effect is a tremendous headache after the test, but you will be given another injection to combat the headache. Don't be worried - you will do fine.

My stress test came back abnormal too. I won't ask your age (I'm 44), but my cardiologist said he was sure it was something to do with that. but since he couldn't be 100% sure, he scheduled me for a heart cath. It came back great! No blockages. Sometimes the stress tests can give a false positive.. so I recommend letting the cardiologist do further testing just to make sure. Good Luck!!

I had the 3 hour stress test and ECG after a abnormal EKG. I'm all clear. 3 day headache for me. Lost 10 lbs. Could've used that shot!

Thanks guys! Pending insurance authorization I'll be doing the nuclear stress test next week. This may end up pushing my surgery back a week (doc only does them on Friday's!), but better safe than sorry.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
