gomezk2 24 Posted September 29, 2016 I am 16 months out from having gastric sleeve and have yet tried to eat greens ( lettuce) because i am afraid of not digesting it properly in my stomach. Any sleevers out there can help with pointers in how to eat salads and incorporate it to my eating plan. Been craving a nice salad but been hesitant not to try it. determinedtolive 134 Posted September 29, 2016 I don't know about any pointers but I'm 3 months out and have been eating salads since week 4. I try to go with the darker green lettuce (not iceburg) and have now switched to just spinach when I do feel like a salad. More nutrients in it. Good luck!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I was sleeved April 20, 2015, and have no problem eating salad. I just had a small one for dinner. Just eat your Protein first, eat slowly, and chew thoroughly, and you should be fine.
carlaw 82 Posted September 30, 2016 salad goes down well. It seems like a slider food to me? probably due to high Water content?
kelliev2015 136 Posted September 30, 2016 I'm almost 8 weeks and have been eating salads for the past week or two. No issues at all.
erp 2,016 Posted September 30, 2016 salad goes down well. It seems like a slider food to me? probably due to high Water content? Salad looks voluminous but crunches down small when you chew well so getting in a bit more volume visually than you are used to seeing on a plate makes sense but in No Way should lettuce be called a slider food. That just isn't the definition of the 'slider' concept and if you weight your lettuce, then you can see that you are still eating a small amount even if visually, it looks like a lot. Eat your veggies everyone.[emoji4]
