You can see the scar and feel it if you push at the spot. It feels wierd! Some people say that after a big loss that they can see it sticking out a little. Some have it replaced with a low profile port if this happens.

TRYSTELLE,

This has nothing to do with your post. I just happened to notice that you had your surgery July 13th and you lost 79lbs already???? Is that right? That is wonderful! What is your secret? I haven't been banded yet but I plan to get it done in March.

Don't feel silly, a lot of people have asked me if my port is visible from the outside. One person even asked me if there was a hole from the outside of my belly into my insides, like a trach in your throat or something! Just like trystelle said...I am almost a year and a half out but I can still see the scar from the outside but otherwise no one will be able to tell you have a port by looking at you. Someone even asked me if my port/band sets off airport scanners...it doesn't!

I see the scar, and if I push in, I can feel the port, but I cannot see the port.

I know that I never felt it, and neither has my wife.

You will be able to go swimming after the incisions from surgery are healed.

Fills are like any injections, sometimes they hurt, but most don't.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
