I had my surgery on Monday and have just gotten home. Overall, it wasn't too terrible. However, one of my incisions in my left side is is unbelievably sore. I knew I would be sorer on that side an any other but OMG!!! I had no troubles meeting my Water intake goal (64 oz) and walking in order to leave the hospital.

Now that I'm home, the real work starts. Got to keep up the Clear Liquids for the next several days and getting some Protein in. Also, painkillers are my fav right now! Ha!

Congrats! The incision on the left hurts the most because that's where they stretch to take out the stomach. Good luck!

Clear liquids for a week. My program has 6 weeks of directions. Requiring 80 grams of Protein a day. Pain in the hospital wasn't that bad except for the one incision on my left side...yes, I used the morephine pump as much as possible and then started on Iquitos Lortab. This one incision is painful!! It's where the did the most tugging and pulling. No, they didn't take out the stomach during the rny. My advice is to follow the program that was set for you!

@Mysticpink74. Clear liquids for several days than liquids for two weeks

You do not want any particle of food interfering with staple seams before they heal After Liquids two weeks soft or mushy foods. Then it's trial and error. You have to see what you can tolerate. It is not as terrible as it may seem to volumn eaters. There are no hunger pangs. Just watch your Fluid intake

@@Mysticpink74 @@Steven1954 that varies depending on program actually. I move onto puréed foods (if my body is ready) at 3 days. By 7 weeks I'm eating pretty normal.

64 oz is consistent however.

@@KatB5331 congratulations! My surgery was 9/29 and my big incision (in my case, it's in the center) is just starting to hurt - or the painkillers I got in the hospital are still wearing off. Hope you're healing well!

@@cbradley my surgery was also in Mexico, and it's been an amazing experience! I'm honestly glad that I did it this way instead of the "traditional" route in the states. Best of luck to you!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
