A Year Already....My Story (w/Pictures)

Recommended Posts

Outstanding changes.

It never fails to amaze me at how much things can change in such short time frames. It seems we go through life and deal with crisis and obstacles....many of which are sudden in nature. It sure is encouraging to see how positive changes can also occur swiftly, too.

Well done, lady.

Thank you so much, your one of my many WLS heroes on this forum because you always give such great advice to others. You have done great yourself!

@@reree6898, not only do you look gorgeous, wear a much smaller size and feel so much better Healthwise, but the doors in your house have grown wider during the past year. I hope you've taken that close a look at your photos.

Lol, thank you. That is why I always do my progress photos in the same place so that I have the doorframe for perspective. [emoji4]

Thank you. That is mighty sweet of you to say so.

I feel like I've been a jerk on here lately..........I get frustrated with some stuff too easily of late. It's powerfully encouraging to see progress such as what you've demonstrated.

Congratulations. You look awesome. Bet you've had great fun launching your large clothes out of your wardrobe to make room for lovely normal sized stuff!

I'm nearly a year out from surgery and I have loved the journey so far. It's been a huge learning curve but the results are worth every minute of the mental and physical effort for the mental and physical results.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
