Soreness worse 9 days out?

Recommended Posts

Sleeved on 9/19 and today my stomach and incisions feel much more sore than they have. Enough that it hurts to take a deep breath. It feels very bruised. I haven't needed and oxycodone and don't want to start now - anyone else have this experience?

I am going for my post-op appointment today.

Bring it up at your post op appointment. It could just be that any nerves that were cut/damaged during surgery are regenerating

My surgery was the same day and my incision is still really sore, but I don't know that it's gotten worse. I saw my surgeon yesterday and they didn't seem concerned, so long as it isn't swollen or red in a circle around it.

I was sleeved on 09/19 and my stomach is still sore but its not getting worse. It feels better each day. I definitely agree that you should talk to your surgeon at your post op appointment about it. I also agree that it is probably from one of the deep stitches. I know I have this constant pulling feeling from one of my incisions when I walk and according to my nurse, its completely normal.

It was my drain - finally got it removed (and staples) and I feel GREAT. They said all incisions looked great. Phew!

Staples? Did you have an open procedure, or laparoscopic? I had lap-robotic and all I have is 5 small incisions, held together with steri-strips. So far, so good; 12 days post-op and the tape has fallen off two of the incisions, and they look find.

I had laproscopic sleeve and have 7 small incisions, which until today were stapled together - now they're steri-stripped.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
