To eat or not to eat....

Recommended Posts

After surgery, the first week was fine, probably just for not feeling so great, the second week I craved a cheese burger(not sure why), I'm starting week 4 and now I don't crave anything.....I really just don't care if I eat, now don't get me wrong. ..I am eating my 3 meals a day and most days drinking my Protein Shake. But I can not eat enough to get in my Protein. My nutritionist has said to stop when I feel full, so I do. But it's not allowing me all my protein and calories. Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem?

I'm having the opposite problem...I'm hungry ALL THE TIME and eating way more food than they said I was going to be able to. I can't starve myself! It's insane.

I haven't felt hunger yet. But I'm only a week out. I started my baby food stage yesterday and I couldn't get a tablespoon down at each meal. I just feel better off with my Protein shakes rather than forcing it.

Yes that's just how I felt week four ,week five and week 6- I am now in week 7 and I think I have felt a little hungry but it def could be my head more. I have fixed several plates thinking I am hungry and am done after 2-3 bites. All very normal I think

What is the reason you're not eating, appetite, discomfort, fear.... Have you tried greek yogurt which has Protein, or greek yogurt smoothie. Flavored Ricotta cheese. Sorry I'm not being much help.

My hunger also disappeared, for months.

I was advised to keep adding Protein powder to my Chobani yoghurt, as I was over the shakes then.

This helped to raise the Protein count.

Now, over 6 months post op, my appetite is coming back ...... I was enjoying the "no hunger" phase ..... alas it did not last.

Have to have regular small meals these days.

I felt hunger when my stomach was the most swollen and after all the pain killers wore off. On the 16th, 17th day of healing, it just dropped off.

I'm 3 months post-op and I still have virtually no hunger. Sometimes I feel kind of 'empty', but its not the same feeling. I'm struggling to get enough food in each day, too.

You have got to get in your protein. Even if you don't feel like eating you may need to eat more frequently with small protein-rich meals and Snacks.

I am eating....I just have no appetite and I get full after not eating but 4 or 5 bites, and they are small bites.

I'm adding Unjury unflavored to everything. Hope it helps.

Can unjury be mixed well into hot foods?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
