kyboo1972 90 Posted September 28, 2016 I would assume that you are cathered while during surgery....for most major surgeries you are, but they usually remove it long before you wake up. But I'm not positive about this. Sent from my VS880PP using the BariatricPal App
ray knight 16 Posted September 28, 2016 OK,not sure who to listen to...are they going to put one on me or not Sent from my Z981 using the BariatricPal App
gemigirl 134 Posted September 28, 2016 OK,not sure who to listen to...are they going to put one on me or not Sent from my Z981 using the BariatricPal App Ask your surgeon. I would suspect you'll have one during the procedure at least because they don't want you peeing on the table - but only your surgeon can address your specific situation. shoodle72 61 Posted September 28, 2016 No I don't think so. I am a nurse and we don't routinely put catheters in whilst patients are under anaesthetic and remove it before you wake up. Catheters are generally used when patients are unlikely to be able to get up to pee after surgery, to measure urine output to make sure your kidneys are working or after bladder or gynaecological surgery. G8rgrl72 18 Posted September 28, 2016 Do you have to wear a catheter during surgery? Sent from my Z981 using the BariatricPal App Ask your surgeon but for my RNY they will put a cath in for a day...for a sleeve they do not. Congrats on your journey! Raynbolite 302 Posted September 28, 2016 All depends on surgeon...I had the sleeve and I had a catheter for the surgery till the next am. It wasn't a big deal...I was so groggy from the anaesthetic, I barely noticed. Sent from my XT1650 using the BariatricPal App

laceemouse 631 Posted September 29, 2016 I was told no for sleeve surgery, the nurse told me the surgery is not long enough to need one. But every surgeon is different. Sent from my Nexus 6P using the BariatricPal App
