G8rgrl72 18 Posted September 27, 2016 I'm in the midst of my 2 wk liquid diet....my cycle just started AND I'm having surgery on MONDAY!! I changed my last surgery date so I could avoid being on my cycle during surgery...wouldn't you know this diet has my hormones all confused! Now I'm still having to go through surgery on my cycle. Anyone else have or had this issue? I have to have a cath for a couple of days too JOY! Sent from my SM-N900V using the BariatricPal App
KristenLe 5,979 Posted September 27, 2016 It's common. It won't be a big deal to anyone but you! Maybe it'll be over by Monday or very light. I expect mine at the time of my surgery too.

asantiago 89 Posted September 28, 2016 Hi I wouldn't worry so much. My Monday it should be light or gone depending how many days you get it for. Don't worry about it. It will be ok. ????
Ravensgrl 19 Posted September 28, 2016 I got mine 2 days before surgery. I was so worried about it when I got to my room after surgery. The nursing staff gave me a pair of disposable undies and helped me fish my catheter thru for the first day, and the catheter was taken out early the next morning. The hospital staff deal with this all the time and will help make sure you're comfortable Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

rolosmom7 740 Posted September 28, 2016 I have endometriosis, and haven't had a period in 2 years due to continuous BCP. Well, surgery said a big F you to that - I've had it for about 10 days now, I'm guessing all the estrogen in the fat is pissing my endometriosis off. It is horrible pain, and in the same region of my incisions and pouch on top of it! ????

I'm off my BC pills for surgery and am a miserable bitch already- I can't imagine what I'll be like for pre-op diet and post-op.

I'd have to travel to a specialist, but probably next year. I refused to go off bcp. The risk was worth it for those 2 pain free weeks. Hang in there girl!! SweetPeas 117 Posted September 28, 2016 I was on my cycle for surgery and it ended up being no big deal. Just like someone else said- disposable undies and off to the OR I went and the nurses were great in making sure I was comfy. The thing that I wish I would have known was how the surgery would spin up my hormones. It sounds like others are having this issue with the liquid diet-I didn't do that pre op but made up for it post op. When I got home my cycle was on a week/off a week/back on/off/etc. for about 8 weeks before finally going back to every 28 days.
lauren66 15 Posted September 29, 2016 I had a similar experience. My last day on my period was the same as my surgery date. It was not a big deal at all. You can wear a pad. Just tell the nurses and they will take care of you. Don't worry about it one bit. I am a month out of surgery and got my period post just like clockwork. You'll do just fine.
