OJ is pretty acidic which might not be good on your healing stomach.

My bariatric center actually preferred we not do juices because of the high sugar content as well but said if we did do them, to dilute them in half with Water. And they suggested apple juice or diet cranberry juice. Just make sure you are buying a juice that doesn't have added sugar to it and even then still dilute it down with some water.

No juice is good juice IMO -- way too many calories, carbs, and too much sugar. Like mainlining a huge hit of sugar right into your system, without even much Fiber (it gets destroyed and removed in the juicing process) to counterbalance it.

Are you drinking Protein shakes? I was told I could blend a 1/2 frozen banana or a few seedless-types of fruits in my shakes.

I could have sugar free Powerade or Gatorade but no fruit juice at any stage..... My NUT thinks fruit juice is sugar laden empty calories and I was told to avoid it forever. Her #1 rule was do not drink your calories except for Protein Drinks when on pre post surgical liquid diet. Thats my plan but ALL plans are very different. I am not saying that's what everyone should do but it works for me ; )

I don't do juice, but I do make a smoothie with apple or pineapple, kale and spinach, with some ice and Water. I was allowed applesauce so I think something like that would be a better choice if you have a blender than can handle making smoothies.

I was drinking the Vitamin Water zero, but then my b Vitamin levels were too high, so now I only get them as an occasional treat, but they are good. real tasty.

Why don't you have a look if V8 or other brand has any good vegetable juices?

I invested in an juicer (Wilfa) that leaves pulp, so I also get the fibers. They can also be used in baking afterwards, if you want to use everything ☺

It also makes great veggie juices, even from carrots, so I make mixes. But if you do only fruits juices, have them very moderately, because of the higher calories, as many pointed out.

Check your food plan or ask your nut if you are not sure what you are allowed.

I also want to mention that I'm pre-op, so I have more food options at this time, even though I am on a diet.

Instead of juice try Syntrax Nectar fuzzy navel or GNC Lean 25 orange cream. They satisfy the taste for juice for me and have lots of Protein.< /p>

Is that all? How are you getting your Protein? You would have to be drinking an awful lot of chicken broth.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
