elle2769 1 Posted September 27, 2016 I'm 2 weeks out - surgery was 9/12. Anyone else have problems with nausea? I struggle to drink enough Protein as I am constantly nauseated. I've tried different Protein shakes, powders and drinks but the strong atificial flavors, chemicals and fake sugars in them make me feel horrible. Initially Premier Protein chocolate was my go-to and it was good but then I tried a Premier Protein vanilla and didn't like it and since then they all make me feel vomitous. heidikat72 935 Posted September 27, 2016 have you talked to your surgical team? they may be able to prescribe something to help with the nausea. Mine actually gave me a script for nausea meds before I left the hospital just in case. Fortunately I didn't need as I would only have a brief bout of nausea once a day and it would pass quickly. It is not uncommon to find the shakes to be too sweet post op. Have you tried an unflavored Protein powder mixed with broth (just make sure the broth is below 140 degree F or the Protein will clump). That would give you a savory and warm change and might be easier to get down. I hope you find something that works soon, getting protein in critical for aiding the healing process. elle2769 1 Posted September 27, 2016 I've tried the "unflavored" unjury but still find it to have a strong flavor. I spoke with my Surgeon yesterday and he recommended I visit Vitamin Shoppe and buy/try a variety. Trying IsoTech42 fruit Punch but am having same repulsion/nausea trying to get it down. I do have some anti-nauseals that were prescribed but they make me so sleepy. Sigh. I only have a week to go to mushies but this is tough. KristenLe 5,979 Posted September 27, 2016 @@elle2769 Take the anti-nausea meds - even if they make you sleepy! You need to get in enough Protein and liquids to heal and for energy. At 2 weeks out - you'll most likely be sleepy anyway - so no need to be nauseous too.
Pescador 1,374 Posted September 27, 2016 I would sure get some nausea medicine!!! Have any of you tried the Torani SF syrups? Adding frozen fruit or Crystal Light Flavors? Right now I am doing vanilla Protein Powder, with low cal almond silk, and a T. Of unsweetened Hershey's Cocoa powder with 1 Stevia added.
