weight loss

Recommended Posts

I was banded on August 17th and have lost about 14 lbs including pre op diet. I am having a fill on Sept 13th. What can I expect as far as weight loss after fill? I have no restriction now so I can still eat a good bit although it is less than what I was eating before surgery. On average how much weight do yall lose a week? My goal is to lose 10 lbs a month. Is this realistic? I do lose weight pretty fast, although I am at a standstill now because of my eating more. I exercise everyday (walk 2 miles at 5:00 am before being at work at 7:00 am.)

I lost the most amount at once the month after surgery.. then bandster hell and I didn't move.. 1st fill, didn't do anything for me, and that month I lost 0lbs (BUT I didn't gain either, so that was nice). 2nd fill, a little restrictions, I lost 8lbs that month. 3rd fill, I am less restricted than 2nd fill and so far I've lost 6lbs this month. I'm not to my proper restriction, and I just have to keep chugging along till I get there. Everyone is different, there's no telling how your 1st fill will effect you.. but if you end up like me, just be patient!

I think most doctors say something like 1-2 pounds a week max is desireable. That could vary depending on how much you have to lose. If your weight is really up there you will probably lose faster and more for a while. As you get towards goal it will slow. I think I am averaging a little over a pound a week. I lost 23 before my first fill and another 15 in the 60 days following.

After my 1st fill I've averaged about 1# a week, maybe a little less....but I am lower BMI and i generally lose weight slowly anyway. I'm not complaining at all because I don't feel like I'm dieting...eating foods I enjoy just a lot less of it.

My doc requires 800 calories a day and 30 minutes of daily exercise minimum. If I were to stay at 2lbs weekly I'd have to break a rule somewhere, either increase my caloric intake or cut down on exercise.

I agree with you, people tend to lose a lot faster in the beginning. The more you have to lose the faster it can go.

I have probably averaged about 10lbs a month. It was more like 14-16 pounds a month in the beginning and 5 pounds a month today. But average, probably 10lbs a month.

It really depends on you and your willingness to maintain the fills, get to your sweet spot, follow the caloric intake your doc suggests, and exercise. Fat MELTS away with exercise. If you honestly want to speed up the process, exercise is the #1 thing that worked for me. food choices are #2. Cutting out white carbs makes a huge difference.

If you are exercising 2 miles every morning then every week add another block to that. Always increase but do it slowly. Then eventually walk 3 blocks and run 1/3 block, walk another 3 blocks and run 1/3 block, etc. Slowly increase that too. The more you exercise the more you can do tomorrow.

Keep in mind, lets say you burn 200 calories walking those 2 miles today. As you lose weight doing the same exact exercise with a smaller body means you'll only burn 100 calories. (I pulled those numbers out of the air, they are not literal examples)

I am losing around 2lbs a week after fills. I wish it were more but hey I am thrilled that it is something.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
