Before Your Surgery Suggestion!

Recommended Posts

@@rolosmom7 My program recommended Weight Loss Surgery Cookbook for Dummies. There's so many recipes on Pinterest and online that I don't think it's worth spending $48 on a cookbook.

Thanks. I searched cookbook on here and Dummies kept coming up. At $10 I'll go with that one [emoji4]

I find most of the questions are not what to cook, some of these Newbies have no earthly idea of the stages of eating after surgery. I think that is why we get so many questions about eating solid foods a week post op. If no one gives them instructions (their surgeons), they are clueless and that is scary. I am trying to make sure we warn them to push their surgeons for instructions, more than anything.

Use the Internet for the wealth of info that it is. I read constantly on different medical sites. I am intrigued by how the process has changed in last ten years, and how different everyone's programs are even today! I got weak direction from the surgeon. I found it is very generic. And of course forums like this are fantastic :) knowledge is power right?!?!?

I am uneducated about nutrition also, and Vitamin issues. Struggling!.

Folks, don't fret too much. There's a learning curve at the beginning and everything will make sense as you go along. Do the reading and the questioning, but be assured that you'll get it all. You'll be best off if you take care of the research before surgery so that you don't unnecessarily freak out afterward.

I was also concerned with what to do when before and after. So that I could free my cluttered mind, I made a huge calendar covering about six weeks to mark each change in stages, when to take meds, everything I needed to stay on top of. Dear, old oak tag, forgotten since Junior High, is still on the market!
