EZisme 11 Posted September 27, 2016 Anyone else have trouble sleeping after surgery. I got sleeve Monday 9/19/16 and ever since I get 3 to 4 hours then I'm wide awake for the rest of the day Sent from my LG-H820 using the BariatricPal App
LipstickLady 25,682 Posted September 27, 2016 I had that issue, too. My NP said it's common. I started getting more sleep about three months out. Ask if you can take melatonin, that works for some people...

gemigirl 134 Posted September 27, 2016 I'm the same date as you! I am having trouble sleeping because of my incisions - can't get comfortable because I normally sleep in my side. I've been taking melatonin and having some children's Tylenol at bedtime and it helps some. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

quirkhorse 30 Posted September 27, 2016 I'm also 9/19. I got off my pain meds and tried a Xanax last night instead and it helped a lot. I had trouble with sleep before surgery though. I have been sleeping on my side with a body pillow against me so that I don't roll over on my stomach. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
RNMomof4 86 Posted September 27, 2016 I haven't had surgery yet but take OTC Unisom occasionally if I have a couple nights that I don't sleep well. It definitely helps with the staying asleep. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
heidikat72 935 Posted September 27, 2016 I had trouble too mainly because I'm a side sleeper and sleeping on my back just doesn't happen. So while I was awake all day, I was very groggy and tired. And it has taken a couple months to get over the constantly fatigued feeling - and it really has taken me forcing myself to exercise despite the fatigue to start feeling like I have more energy.
