Puréed Food Stage

Recommended Posts

Hello All-

I am finally at the puréed food stage (sleeved 09/07) and I am looking for suggestions of what everyone ate.... that doesn't necessarily included putting meat in a blender. It kind of freaks me out. LOL.

Thank you for your suggestions!

  • Ricotta Bake (google it - Bariatric ricotta bake)
  • No sugar added applesauce
  • Cottage cheese
  • Scrambled eggs
  • Greek Yogurt
  • Real fruit and vegetable smoothies
  • Tuna (From a can -- it's typically chopped small enough for puree stage)
  • pureed Veggies (steam them first...then they're easy to puree)
  • Refried Beans
  • oatmeal
  • Sweet Potato (mashed)
  • Mashed Cauliflower

There's a lot more but that's off the top of my head remembering what I ate at that stage. You can look on this forum and find many more recipes by stage that will be helpful also.

Just make sure you meet your liquid and Protein goals every day!!

Best of luck!

I would also recommend 1% cottage cheese and plain Greek yogurt.

I add a teaspoon of Polaner's no sugar added jelly.

It comes in a few flavors, adds sweetness to cottage cheese or plain Greek yogurt with very little calories and carbs.

I also have tuna salad made with low fat Mayonnaise and egg salad as well.

Polly-O cheese sticks are great too and no carbs. Just chew them well.

Hope this helps.

How much of the ricotta bake is one serving? It looks great but I bet it's high in fat.

I wouldn't worry too much about fat content at this point in your recovery. You won't be able to eat more than a few bites, which is hardly enough to make an impact. Also, if you use part skim, low fat ricotta and mozzarella cheeses, it's really not as bad as you would think.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
