kimini 175 Posted September 26, 2016 I've been hearing this from other posters, too. I did not have a drain (or at least if I did, they pulled it out before I woke up). I would ask your surgeon about this.
EZisme 11 Posted September 26, 2016 I had sleeve on 9/19 and No drain I guess every Dr is different but I realized a lot of info I find online is outdated Sent from my LG-H820 using the BariatricPal App
Waler 330 Posted September 26, 2016 No drain here either but I have heard of people having them. It is only to help and trapped Fluid or blood in your abdominal cavity out, this helps lower the risk of some complications for people who need to have a drain in. They are usually removed within a few days if required, from what I have been told
KristenLe 5,979 Posted September 26, 2016 @@TanishaP Normally, my surgeon does not use a drain. It depends on your surgeon and your situation.

Armygalbonnie 643 Posted September 26, 2016 My surgeon only uses drains for people who are having revisions. I won't be getting a drain! YESSSS!
leebick 448 Posted September 26, 2016 My surgeon doesn't use drains, at least for straight gastric sleeve surgery. I am not sure what she does for people who are having other things done at the same time, like hernia repairs. You should call and ask (that's what I did!). Bufflehead 6,358 Posted September 26, 2016 I had a drain but only for 24 hours. It was gone well before I left the hospital. Also, it was not a big deal!
southbound 159 Posted September 26, 2016 I will have a drain for 3-5 days. It's a way he can check for leaks. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
