Please help... gas pains

Recommended Posts

My shoulder is killing me. It's hurt to breath even. I have been on the go all day so walking and activity shouldn't be an issue. I've been taking the gas X. It's pretty bad right now. Any advice please?

someone told me that just lying down flat on her back worked, and I must say it seems to help me momentarily. I still have some shoulder pain, I was banded 8/29/07

The nurse told me to lay on the side that hurts. It works. I also use a moist heat pad that you warm in the microwave. It also delivers relief. I see you're just a day behind me in banding. The pain should be diminishing, if you are walking. My stomach/side pain is almost totally gone, and my left shoulder feels better every day. Today it is very bearable. Hope this helps. Keep us posted.

I am doing much better today. Less gas pain, only the one in the shoulder left. Not too much port pain. I went to the gym today and walked 10 minutes on the treadmill and 15 minutes on the stairmaster. I am feeling kind of low on energy but I will take my Vitamins and Protein Shakes and hope that it helps. Take Care.. keep in touch

I am having the same issue, I was banded 8/29. I try to take ibuprofen 3x a day, and alternate heat and ice to the shoulder, the ice has really helped. Good luck and hang in there!

HELLO???? Take your PAIN meds! That's what they are there for! I lived on mine for a week after surgery. It HELPS!!! Don't suffer and don't try to be a martyr...there is no reward in it. Sounds like you are doing the right things. The more moving you do the more it will move around inside you and try to get out. You should be farting and burping up a storm.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
