Recommended Posts

I Was banded in July 2009. Since then I lost weight, had a baby and gained all my weight back. Surgery weight was 240 in 2009, now I weigh 235 Pounds. I am finally DONE yo-yo dieting, I am miserable. tired. hurting. DONE. I am done feeling this way, join with me I cant do it alone. Been there failed that. I need accountability, if you do too, join me.

Chris Powell from Extreme Makeover Weight Loss Edition has a great book. Chose to Lose, which I have read before now he has a new book, Chose More, Lose More. It is carb cycling. I know me, I need chocolate, I will fail without being able to have treats, it just how I am. You get to have a reward or treat every other day. This is the plan for me. Whatever plan you do, join me, share advise, lend an ear, let's make a team to finally beat this! We can do it!

I had the band in 2007 it worked for about 3 months I lost 32 of the 70 before surgery. On 12/21 I had to have it removed and chose the sleeve because I had reflux and 2 hernia repairs. My experience makes me think that if you want the band to be successful you need a support group weekly and a dietitian so that your tool will work, I did neither! My HW was 343 1stSW 311 2nd SW 268.8

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
