That's a good question. One thing I've learned from these online support groups is each Dr varies in instructions on eating and care after surgery. Follow those steps for introducing various levels of food to the letter, if you can, so your tummy can heal properly and to lessen any discomfort you might have. You have to figure out a routine to get the Water, Protein and Vitamins in. I feel lucky that I have had no vomiting or pain issues. My endocrinologist told me a week ago that I am no longer diabetic, and the 2 meds I was on for that have been gone since day before surgery. Off of one BP med, two more to go. My energy level is great. I am walking for exercise right now due to some arthritis issues but will soon be hitting the gym, my energy level is great. I don't know if it was me you asked about results so far but I don't mind sharing, lol, we are all in this together.

I weighed 310 at my first consult in May,

SW. 285

CW 258. WL 52

So I lost 25 prior to surgery and 27 since, not a superstar amount like some, but similar to most in a support group I'm in for August sleevers. I'm happy with it and the health improvements. The hospital part goes fast and before you know it you are home learning to take care of your new tummy.

Take the instruction about lifting seriously, been hearing some bad results when people didn't, like bleeding from seemingly healed incisions. Boy I don't know if any of my info is helpful, but if you have any questions that I can help with, ask. Not medical expertise type stuff! More like, she's just been thru it, she'll know, type stuff.

Im in Bellingham. I've been going to UW bariactric weightloss. Clinic.

. I had Dr Houseworth as well! He is very skilled. My sister in law used to work in ICU and she spoke to a surgery tech who sang Dr H's praises. He said he would not hesitate to have Dr. Houseworth operate on anyone he loves. He is very good and that was my experience too. Hope you have a smooth recovery!

Thank you! It's great talking to someone who had him also! I felt confident in him from day one. Did he have you do a preop diet?

No he didn't, just light meals the day before and fasting overnight before the surgery. If I remember right. Was very minimal. My surgery was mid afternoon.

My surgery is Dec 27th in Mexico. After 3 frustrating years of testing my ins company denied my surgery. In Mexico my surgery will cost me $5900. I could use some supporters!

Sent from my VS985 4G using the BariatricPal App

Darned insurance! Everything I hear is positive about Mexico surgeries. You should come to Support group at St Francis in Federal Way. It is open to all, some aren't, and it's free, some aren't!

2nd Tuesday each Month, 1-2pm. Pre or post surgery. Run by the nutritionists, but there are guest speakers as well. I love it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
