Hey Sleevies! I'm 9 days post surgery! The first 3 days were miserable. The last 3 says were amazing! I feel soo much more like myself.

One thing....

My appetite came back after hearing that it would take about 2-3 weeks. I know we are supposed to be on liquid diets but ive been going crazy! I had bean Soup, mashed, tortilla chips, salsa, slushy(not for flavor but for some strong, strange crave and need for something very cold, citrus and tart)potatoes and shrimp soo far. Yikes. Is that bad?! 7 days post op and I've had real food. I guess my main question is; Is it only bad for my diet or is actually bad for my stomach that I've had these foods? Like, would it cause problems? I'm concerned but ive been able to take on some foods. I'm not out of control, though! Haha. Just figuring things out with my stomach and how I feel. Thanks folks, glade to have support with this. I love the idea of bariatricpal. TTYL, Sleevies!

It's great that you are doing so well. However, tortilla chips and all the other stuff you're eating on day 7 is a big problem. Do you have a plan provided by your bariatric team? You really need to follow that.

Google what your stomach looks like after being sleeved. It is swollen, stapled and vulnerable. It cannot handle what your giving it and if you've not gotten ill yet, be grateful and go back to full liquids. Bump up Protein intake to stave off these cravings you're having. Good luck.

Yeah the chips could hurt you. And sounds like a lot of carbs. You're starting very early with the things you're needing to learn to do without in the early stages.

If you were not given a dietary plan by a nutritionist tell me and I'll send you mine. It's more progressive than a lot that I read on here.

Thank you, gemigirl. I do have a plan...i was following itvthe first 6-7 days and thats when my cravings and appetite went crazy. I definitely will get back to liquids. I should have known this would be stupid. My stomach can't tolerate that stuff. It was also to test my limits but I can no longer test. Thanks a lot.

If you have a plan follow it. For not laying in a hospital bed for a month's sake. I don't think eating that soon is as risky but with the right stuff and puréed.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
