Hi there! My surgery was 6/30 and my husband and I like to eat out. So we've gotten used to meal negotiations. Example: Red Lobster

I ordered the ultimate feast which consist of steamed crab legs and lobster tail. Fried shrimp and a scampi. My husband ordered his typical NY strip. I ate the crab meat and tail and he finished up my fri d shrimp and ate my veggies I didn't.

I've seen many on here say It's a challenge to eat out. Some times I just take home what I don't eat. Have it for a couple more times.

I do not know when or if you were sleeved. I am three years post op. I order low carb, never a potato or Pasta, and can make two to three meals off a dinner. I think if you stop with the lobster and relax a bit, you will feel full. Then you have crablegs to take home! Following the no drink rule makes a ton of difference. I love eating out!

I never order a full meal out at restaurants anymore. I can always get something off the appetizer menu or the a'la cart list. Or, if one of my kids orders a salad, I have them add on an extra add on protein' option and ask them to put it on the side. I'll steal a few bites of my husband's veggies and done! Saves us $10-20 when we go out to eat, easily.

The only full menu item I can think that I've ordered is a Chipotle bowl. No rice, double Beans, extra cheese and sour cream, meat, fajita veggies, all the salsas... It's at least 4 meals for me.

I did but I've never used it. Kids' menus are nasty. chicken nuggets, pasta' with butter, pizza, fries... Not much protein' heavy and healthy. What a shame...

Lobster tail is small there so crab is not much more. My husband always samples. Can't imagine reheated crab legs.

I do all of the above, order an appetizer, side dish ala carte, share entree with the hubby, get a kids meal if there is a healthy option (Carrabbas kids grilled chicken with vegetable of the day.... Yummy and only 6.99!!!). Sometimes I want the full entree (soup and sides go home and most of entree) and that's ok to. Most of the time do spend much less money than Before so I have no problem getting an expensive meal once in awhile. I do always avoid bread, fries and Pasta.< /p>

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
