Help! What did you bring?

Recommended Posts

Pillow -Stayed in the car for the ride home

Lip Balm

Face Wash

Kindle

phone/charger

change of panties.

I had my clothes on for about 2 hours before taking them off, so I wore the same clothes home. They ask you to bring as little as possible, and they provide everything you need.

I took a robe, toothbrush, toothpaste, & phone charger that's it. I wore a comfortable jogging suit and hard bottom slippers to hospital and wore the same thing back home. They gave me a tube of lip moisturizer. Took shower when I got home.

I only took my husband. I was there 8 hours, had surgery, slept, and went home.

Mine was outpatient surgery, so I wore the same clothes (black top and black yoga pants- cotton and comfy), my abdominal belly band to put on after surgery, slippers (didn't need them as I had to wear knee high compression hose and socks (it was a really sexy look lol), my driver's license (ID), my insurance card, some aquaphor for my lips, my iPad (didn't use it), and my phone. Oh, and I had gas x strips with me. People said I might need them right away.

Good luck to you!

I took:

My robe and slippers so I "felt pretty" walking the halls

chap stick

my lavender soap and body lotion--I wanted to smell like "home"=--not "hospital"

my cell phone and charger

tooth brush and paste

My rosary---couldn't hurt, right?

Did you use the gas x strips?

Most of what brought didn't get used.... But a phone charger is critical. If I could do it again I would bring my own pillow. Also bring your baggiest cloths to go home in. Extra roomy sweats. The swelling and IV Fluid will bloat you and you don't want anything tight on the ride home.

What did you take to the hospital? My surgery is on Wednesday!!! I'm making a list of what all I need. Thanks!

Adding to everyone's list are gas x strip and Biotin moisturizing oral rinse. I haven't had mine yet but I've had loads of folks tell me to make sure you bring them.

The gas they pump you up with is in your body cavity, not your stomach. The Gas-x strips won't do anything.

Although that is true, you may experience gas when you begin taking in fluids. I'd err on the side of caution.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
