Helpful Pampering

Recommended Posts

Hi ladies (and men, if so inclined)

Just wanted to share something that's really helped me. I've felt pretty sick, tough recovery so far. Each night, I've been digging out something to pamper myself. You know, that stuff we buy, use once and then put on a shelf never to be seen again?

Well, I busted it out. I've been doing face masks, sugar scrubs, lip scrubs, etc. It really has helped mentally. Bonus, all that stuff doesn't go to waste!

Just wanted to share - I may feel like s**t but my skin looks good!

Also, I tried to put this in the "powder room" forum and it wouldn't let me?

I love that, and agree we should pamper ourselves. One thing I have never done, but am seriously considering, is getting a massage. Actually, there is a place near me that specializes in foot therapy massage, and I think I am going to "reward" myself with giving it a try.

This is the perfect time to pamper and remind yourself that you are worth this! Great idea!

@@*susan* I have never had a pedicure or a massage. I'm going to change that post-op! I have a ton of little samples from my Birch Box that I'm going to do this same thing @@rolosmom7 - great idea!!! I'd never use them otherwise!

Pedicures are lovely!!!! You'll LOVE it. A lot of what I'm using up came in my boxy charm box too.

Pedi's and massages are amazing. If you have a partner or spouse, go get a couples massage! It's phenomenal☺

Reflexology is wonderful, especially if not ready or comfortable with massage.

Massage is my favorite self-care reward.

I went to a spa earlier in the week and it's the first time I was confident enough in myself to have a massage and I'd seriously recommend it to anyone - it was absolutely lush

I also like full body sugar/salt scrubs. They're sosososososo good. Also, I've read they help with excess skin. Who knows if it's true, but can't hurt!

I'm an aesthetician and cosmetologist. If you mix up coffee grounds and body wash to a paste and use it as a scrub it helps with the skin. It's very invigorating. Supposedly it helps firm and tighten skin. It's kind of messy. You also can use salt or sugar mixed with your favorite body wash as well.

Do they have to be unused or can I have a cup of coffee out of them? I always wanted another use to them. Thanks

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
